Six Signs You’re in the Wrong Relationship

Here are a few signs that your relationship is all wrong for you . . .

1.  You’re settling for Mr. or Ms. ‘Good Enough’.  If you’re settling for someone, you’re really just biding time with them because you’ve gotten comfortable, or are afraid of being alone.

2.  They’re your harshest critic.  If nitpicking and criticism are a regular thing in your relationship, that’s not good.

3.  You don’t share a sense of humor.  It might seem like a small thing, but if the person you spend most of your time with doesn’t regularly laugh with you, it’s a problem.

4.  Your personal goals are at odds.  The best relationships are built on a strong sense of partnership.  And as a couple, you should support each other’s goals.

5.  You’re more in love with the fantasy of who they COULD be than who they really are.  When you’re in love, it’s easy to overlook incompatibilities and think about who they may become someday.  But you’re wasting your time with that.

6.  You need to change who you are to keep them satisfied.  No couple in the world loves EVERYTHING about each other.  But if they look at you as someone they feel compelled to change, you’re in the wrong relationship.

The Ten Things We Fight Over During a Big Break-Up

A recent survey found that 40% of arguments during a divorce have to do with stuff you own, and who gets to keep it.  Here are the top ten things people fight over during a break-up . . .

1.  The car.  Obviously that’s only in a divorce, or a long-term relationship where you bought one together.

2.  Photos.  Which is kind of weird.  Do you really care about hard copies anymore?

3.  Sentimental items.

4.  The TV.

5.  Computers and tablets.

6.  The bed, because obviously you’ll both need one.

7.  The sofa.

8.  Heirlooms.  Which is a weird one, since it’s only an heirloom for ONE of you, right?  Whoever got it from their relative should keep it.

9.  Appliances like the washer and dryer.

10.  Records and CDs.  I guess even if they’re in your iTunes, you don’t want the other person to have all your music.

And somehow, PETS didn’t make the list.

People With iPhones Prefer Superman . . . Android Users Prefer Batman

Yahoo did one of those dumb surveys where they ask 1,000 iPhone and Android users random questions, to see if they like different stuff.  And they SORT of did, but it’s not very scientific . . . at all.  Here’s what they found.

1.  Apple owners claimed to be better educated and make more money.  People with Androids tended to be slightly older, and more likely to live in the Midwest or the East.  Politically, they’re pretty much the same.

2.  If they HAD to choose one pet for the rest of their life, both groups picked dogs over cats.  But Android users were a little more likely to like cats.

3.  They both tend to like rock most overall, but more iPhone users like classical music, and more Android users like hip-hop.

4.  40% of iPhone users would choose to get around in a chauffeur-driven town car, but only a third of Android users would.  We’re not sure what the point of that question was . . . maybe to see who was snobbier?

5.  Both groups like pizza the best, and Chinese food second.  But more iPhone users like sushi, so . . . again with the snob thing.  And both groups prefer a cold beer the most, but more iPhone users than Android users chose white wine.

6.  And finally, both groups picked Superman over Batman, and “Star Wars” over “Star Trek” . . . but Android users were a little more likely to choose Batman and “Star Trek”.

Five Phrases Young People Use, and What They Mean

We found a stupid list of ‘Words and Phrases Millennials Use But No One Else Understands.’  Here are five, and what they mean.  But you’ve probably heard and already understand some of them.  Also, can we all stop saying ‘millennials’?

1.  “Sorry not sorry.”  A fake apology where you’re being sarcastic.  You’re KINDA sorry, but you want to make fun of ACTUALLY being sorry, because you don’t think the other person really deserves an apology.

2.  “I can’t even.”  It means you’re annoyed, you’re losing your patience, and you’re at a loss for words.

3.  “Perf.”  It’s just an abbreviation for “perfect.”  Like when you’re agreeing to the plans someone made, and don’t feel like typing three more letters.

4.  “TBH.”  It means “to be honest.”  And it can be followed by a joke, or a comment that’s actually sincere.

5.  “Bae.”  You’ve probably heard this one.  It just means “baby,” like when you’re referring to a significant other.  But does anyone still use it?

The Ten Most Common Words of Wisdom We Get from Our Grandparents

Grandma's memories

This Sunday is National Grandparents’ Day, and according to a new survey, 64% of us say our grandparents have had a profound impact on our lives . . . and 56% pass on things we learn from them to our own kids.  Here are the ten most common ‘words of wisdom’ we get from our grandparents . . .

1.  “A leopard never changes its spots.”  Meaning you can’t really change someone.

2.  “A minute on the lips, a lifetime on the hips.”  Which is about over-snacking.

3.  “A watched pot never boils.”

4.  “Treat others as you would like to be treated.”

5.  “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”

6.  “An hour before midnight is worth two after.”  In other words, don’t stay up too late.

7.  “Be nice to people on the way up, because you’ll meet them on the way down.”  Meaning be nice to people when things are going well, or they won’t be there for you when things AREN’T going well.

8.  “Cleanliness is next to godliness.”

9.  “Don’t leave until tomorrow what you can do today.”

10.  “Don’t let the sun go down on your anger.”  Meaning don’t go to bed angry.
