If You Haven’t Left Town For Memorial Day Weekend, Don’t Bother Until 7:00 P.M.

Memorial Day Travel Expected To Rise With Lower Gas Prices

If you’re heading out of town today for Memorial Day weekend, hopefully you’re already on the way.  Because if you aren’t, you might want to wait  AWHILE.

A new study looked at Memorial Day weekend traffic, and found that things get REALLY clogged on the roads today until after 7:00 P.M.  The absolute worst time to hit the road is between 3:00 and 4:00 P.M. But . . . believe it or not, if you waited until today to skip town, you’re actually better off than the people who tried to get a jump.

The absolute WORST Memorial Day traffic every year is on Thursday . . . and the second-worst is on Wednesday. In fact, the Thursday before Memorial Day has the WORST traffic of any day of the entire year.

Letterman’s Last “Late Show” Included an All-Star Top 10 List

ThinkstockPhotos-472830958

DAVID LETTERMAN signed off for good last night with a show that was heavy on clips from his last 30-odd years on TV.  But one of the highlights was an all-star list of the “Top 10 Things I’ve Always Wanted to Say to Dave”. It was delivered by, in this order, Alec Baldwin, Barbara Walters, Steve Martin, Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Carrey, Chris Rock, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Peyton Manning, Tina Fey, and Bill Murray.

Julia had the best line . . . quote, “Thanks for letting me take part in another hugely disappointing series finale.”  Seinfeld’s reaction was pretty priceless . . . not that he didn’t know it was coming, of course.

Six Times You Shouldn’t Wear Flip-Flops

ThinkstockPhotos-122460872

Some people are okay with wearing flip-flops all the time . . . IF you buy new ones every few months, or at least wash them.  When every enclosed space you’re in smells like feet, it’s time.  But here are six times you should NEVER wear flip-flops . . .

1.  When you’re walking your dog.  A study in 2009 found 18,000 different types of bacteria on one pair of flip-flops, including fecal matter.  Your shoes get covered with bacteria too, but just on the outside.

2.  Any time you’re walking a long way, or might have to run.  A 2008 study found that flip-flops make you take shorter strides, so you’re more likely to fall.  And it can also lead to problems with your knees, hips, ankles, and spine.

3.  When you’re mowing the lawn . . . for obvious reasons.  Actually, you should wear shoes for pretty much any type of yard work.

4.  When you’re cooking.  You have to worry about things like boiling water, grease splatters, and knives you might drop.

5.  Anywhere that’s crowded.  Eventually some guy in steel-toed boots will step on your foot, and you’ll understand why.  And again . . . you have to worry about the foot smell.

6.  When you’re driving.  It’s not actually illegal, that’s a myth.  But a lot of people think it SHOULD be, because they can fall off and get wedged under the pedals.

Ten Worthless Things We Constantly Say That Don’t Mean Anything

ThinkstockPhotos-510874531

10.   “You know what I mean.”  As in, “He ignored us, you know what I mean?”

9.  “Apparently.”  As in, “Apparently, they got a new manager.”

8.  “Of course.”  As in, “Of course he ignored us.”

7.  “Amazing.”  As in, “I had this amazing burger.”

6.  “And stuff like that.”  As in, “I had this amazing burger and stuff like that.”

5.  “I know, right?”  As in, “Which was amazing.  I know, right?”

4.  “Actually.”  As in, “We actually went to Applebee’s.”

3.  “I mean.”  As in, “I mean the guy was about 18 years old.”

2.  “You know.”  As in, “I actually called him over, you know.”

1.  “Like.”  As in, “And like, he actually took it off the bill.”

Now let’s put them all in a sentence . . .

“Did we eat at home last night?  Actually, we went to like, Applebee’s and I had this amazing burger and stuff like that and apparently they got a new manager, I mean the guy was like 18 years old and of course he ignored us, you know what I mean, so I actually called him over, you know, like to complain about Jason’s chili and stuff because it was cold and like, he actually took it off the bill, which was amazing, I know right?”
