We all love history right? Check out some of these random events that happened on this day; June 9th

224 years ago. . . In 1790, the FIRST BOOK was copyrighted in the U.S. . . . John Barry’s “Philadelphia Spelling Book”.

80 years ago. . . In 1934, DONALD DUCK made his debut in Disney’s “The Little Wise Hen”.  He wasn’t wearing pants then, and he still isn’t wearing ’em now.

41 years ago. . . In 1973, SECRETARIAT won the BELMONT STAKES to become the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years.

36 years ago. . . In 1978, after a 148-year ban, the MORMONS declared that BLACK MEN COULD BE PRIESTS.

34 years ago. . . In 1980, RICHARD PRYOR suffered third-degree burns over most of his body while “freebasing” the cocaine.  He had to endure two months of painful skin-grafting operations . . . all because COKE DON’T FREEBASE ITSELF!

21 years ago. . . In 1993, one of the first NHL franchises fled a traditional hockey town for a new warmer, southern market when the MINNESOTA NORTH STARS relocated to DALLAS.

20 years ago. . . In 1994, LISA “THE LEFT EYE” LOPES of the TLC set fire to the mansion of her then-boyfriend, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver ANDRE RISON.

Eight years ago. . . In 2006, MEREDITH VIEIRAspent her last day as one of the yentas on “The View”.  She got the job co-hosting NBC’s “Today” show with Matt Lauer after Katie Couric left.  And this month, Meredith is leaving “Today”.
