Old School “Dumb” Phones Are Coming Back

Apparently, old school cell phones are making a comeback . . . and people are getting rid of their smart phones because they want “dumb” phones. The main reasons are way better battery life, the phones are much less likely to break, and it helps people who feel TOO connected with their smart phones.

Why would you want a phone with a tiny black-and-white screen that doesn’t have a keyboard or apps or the Internet?  There are three main reasons . . .

1.  The battery can last for days . . . maybe even a whole week . . . without having to charge.

2.  They’re WAY tougher.  You see people walking around all the time with iPhones that have cracked screens . . . old phones were indestructible compared to that.

3.  It helps you break that feeling of being TOO connected.  Some people find it freeing not to have every email, Facebook message, or tweet immediately show up in front of them.

Even if you don’t want to go back to an old phone, there’s some good news for you here . . . if you still have your old phone, you might be able to get good money for it on eBay.

The Meaning Of Memorial Day

The three-day weekend is more than BBQ’s, Blockbuster movies, and hanging out at the beach. It’s about remembering those who served. The holiday got started on May 30, 1868, when Union General John A. Logan declared the day an occasion to decorate the graves of Civil War soldiers. Twenty years later, the name was changed to Memorial Day. On May 11, 1950, Congress passed a resolution requesting that the President issue a proclamation calling on Americans to observe each Memorial Day as a day of prayer for permanent peace and designating a period on that day when the people of the United States might unite in prayer. President Richard M. Nixon declared Memorial Day a federal holiday in 1971. Memorial Day is now observed on the last Monday of May. It is an occasion to honor the men and women who died in all wars.

It is customary to mark Memorial Day by visiting graveyards and war monuments. There are others ways that you can honor the men and women that have served our country, like marching in a parade, flying a flag at half-staff, or visit monuments dedicated to soldiers, sailors and marines. So when you light up that grill this weekend, and enjoy the company of your friends and family, remember the men and women that have risked everything to protect our freedom. We remember and salute you all! Happy Memorial Day!

Did Jay-Z Take Solange Jewelry Shopping?

According to TMZ, Jay-Z and Solange seemed to have buried the hatchet over the “video tape” that broke this week of an alleged assault, by shopping in New york City for jewelry at Mr. Flawless. It is reported that the two walked around for about 20 mins, and did not buy anything, with the appearance of no strife or strain. Hmm…could this be a public ploy to distract what really happened? Only time will tell…keep you posted!
